I would be happy to show you how to build a split cane over approximately 4 days in my workshop.

I will, of course, provide all materials and tools. You will have the opportunity to plane rods using the traditional plane or with the "Morgan Handmill" (details in my blog).

 

The following is offered:

 

• Materials science

• Fundamentals and theory on the preparation and processing of bamboo

• Splitting, straightening and hardening the bamboo

• Planing technique (Morgan handmill or planing form)

• Construction of the spliced blank (rod blank)

• Assembly of the sleeves, handle and roller holder

• Ring assembly, windings and varnishing

The goal is to build a finished rod blank under expert guidance, including ferrule fitting, handle assembly, wrapping of the guides, and varnishing.
